Poes are ghosts that can be quite a hazard to Link. They sometimes can appear and disappear at will, making them difficult to defeat. Two notable Poes would be Sharp and Flat.
Appearances
A Link to the Past
In A Link to the Past Poes only appear in the Graveyard. They require many hits with a weapon to defeat.
Ocarina of Time
Ocarina of Time's Poes disappear when Link gets too close. On top of that, they can go through walls. Link must catch ten Big Poes and bring them to the Poe Shop to get the fourth Bottle in this game. He must defeat four sister Poes as well to finish the Forest Temple. Sharp and Flat first appear in this game.
Majora's Mask
Poes don't appear as much in Majora's Mask but are the same as in Ocarina of Time. Sharp and Flat appear in this game as well.

Twilight Princess' Poes are more creepy. Link must kill four Poes in to complete the Arbiter's Grounds. If he can collect sixty Poes throughout Hyrule he gets unlimited Rupees.
