The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is the first home gaming console made by Nintendo to be released internationally. It was Nintendo's first American home console (Nintendo arcade games had been released in America before 1985.) In Japan, the system is named the FAMICOM or Family Computer Disk System.

Nintendo Famicom

The Famicom, short for "Family Computer", was the Japanese version of the NES. It was released in 1983. Many more addons for the Famicom than the NES were released, including a tape drive for saving data, a keyboard for use with a BASIC interpreter, and a floppy disk drive. The Famicom's controller contained a microphone that could be used in gameplay; the Pols Voice in The Legend of Zelda was affected by the player blowing into the microphone.

Games

Of all the games developed for the NES, there were but two Zelda games: The Legend of Zelda, and The Adventure of Link.
