Come on, wake up! Can Hyrule's destiny really depend on such a lazy boy?

Navi is the main fairy partner of Link in Ocarina of Time. She was first sent to Link, at the start of the game, by the Great Deku Tree. She is well known for her catchphrase, "Hey, Listen!", being annoying to many players. Navi helps Link in several ways; Z-Targeting, reminding Link where to go next, offering hints on enemies etc. Many players dislike Navi for her habit of pointing out things that either distract Link, or seem to point out the obvious.

Spoiler Alert! This section describes a subject that is sensitive to plot development.

At the end of Ocarina of Time, Navi flies away from Link after he places the Master Sword in the Pedestal of Time. This is probably because Link is a Hylian and only Kokiri have fairies, so there is no reason for Navi to stay with him.

Navi's successor is Tatl from Majora's Mask, but (presumably due to fan responses) her yells are replaced by bicycle bell sounds. Otherwise, Tatl has the exact same function to Navi. She has a different personality, being rather feisty instead of informal, but she gradually starts to like Link throughout the story.

Trivia

  • In the television show Gravity Falls, there is a reference to Navi. There is a fairy that says, "Hey! Look! Listen!"
