Appearances

A Link to the Past

Main article: Mothula (A Link to the Past)

Mothula made its original debut in A Link to the Past as the boss of Skull Woods, a dungeon in the Dark World.

Oracle of Seasons

Main article: Mothula (Oracle of Seasons)

Mothula is the boss of the third dungeon, Poison Moth's Lair, in Oracle of Seasons.

The Wind Waker

Mothula first appears in The Wind Waker as a mini-boss to the Forbidden Woods. To damage Mothula, Link must either use parry attacks or stun it with the Deku Leaf before use combo attacks with his sword. Link is rewarded the Boomerang for defeating the first Mothula.

Winged Mothulas attack Link by flying into him from above, while wingless Mothulas attack Link by ramming into him. Both types will spray dozens of Morths which attach to Link and slow him down. After Link has acquired the Fire Arrows and the Ice Arrows, he can shoot those at Mothula for a one hit kill.

Spirit Tracks

Mothulas are simple enemies. They have only two attacks. Their first attack is when they throw a skull at Link. The skull can be deflected using the Whirlwind, which sends it back at them. Using the Whirlwind at them when they are not attacking will cause them to just deflect it back at Link. Their second attack is when Link is stunned by the whirlwind; they dive towards him, dealing damage. Deflect their skulls back at them with the Whirlwind and then attack with the sword to defeat then.
