Marin is an important character that appears in the game Link's Awakening. She is the daughter of Tarin, and lives in Mabe Village on Koholint Island. When Link washes up on the shore, Marin finds and takes him back to her house, and takes care of him until he wakes up. She teaches Link the Ballad of the Wind Fish, which is required to complete the game. Link also needs her to wake the sleeping walrus in order to gain access to Yarna Desert. Marin is said to have a sort of love interest in Link, but she never shows it.

Template:Spoiler/Begin If the game is completed without a single death, in the end cutscene, Marin will be seen flying in the sky. Then she will fly away as a seagull, this reffering to the conversation that Link had with Marin on the Beach. During this talk, Marin stated that her father said there was nothing beyond the sea, but she belives there must be something over there. She says that if she were a seagull, she would fly as far as she could. Template:Spoiler/End
