Malladus is the final boss in Spirit Tracks. His past is briefly touched upon; he was apparently a Demon King that wanted to destroy everything, but was stopped by the Gods. There was a huge fight, and eventually Malladus was captured and sealed by the Tower of Spirits.[1] When the Spirit Tracks started disappearing, Malladus' seal got weakened, and with the help of Chancellor Cole usurping Princess Zelda's body, Malladus was able to get free.[2][3][4] That is, until Link stops his plans.

Appearance

Malladus' spirit appears as a blue skull with red eyes, resembling a Bubble. When he takes over Zelda's body, he appears as a twisted version of Zelda, with pale skin and red eyes. In his demon form, he is a blue horned beast that somewhat resembles Ganon.

Battle

Phase 1: Malladus: Puppet Zelda and Chancellor Cole

In battle, Malladus first possesses Zelda's body. Link must avoid the various traps set by Chancellor Cole including magical rats and help Zelda in Phantom form reach her body. Link must shoot him with the Bow of Light to purge him from Zelda's body, beginning the next phase of battle.

Phase 2: Malladus, the Demon King

Malladus then uses the life force of Chancellor Cole to turn into a demon. Link must defend Zelda as she powers up. Malladus shoots out streams of fireballs which Link must deflect. Link and Zelda then play a song with the Lokomo, finally defeating Malladus by impaling his forehead with the Lokomo Sword.
