A Leever is an enemy that has appeared frequently in the Zelda Series. It is a sand-based enemy, and thus will usually be found in deserts, like the Desert Colossus and the Gerudo Desert. However, it can also be found in Hyrule Field in Twilight Princess.

Appearances

The Legend of Zelda

Red Leevers will brutally charge the player without any indication of where they will appear. Blue Leevers have somewhat complicated path of moving and attacking the player in available non-damage situations.

The Adventure of Link

Leevers will only generate in a desert biome and charge the player with a one direction attack. (Jumping is advised)

A Link to the Past

Leevers first appear within the Desert Palace of A Link to the Past. Several Green Leevers can be found in the sand filled area as soon as Link enters the dungeon. These creatures will pop up from underground and spin towards Link. After a period of time, the Leevers will then burrow underground, before then coming back up at another location closer to Link.

Leevers usually come in large groups, but they shouldn't be too much trouble for Link. Each Green Leever can be defeated with two simple sword slashes from Link's Fighter's Sword.

Purple Leevers can also be found throughout the Desert Palace. The only difference with Purple Leevers is that they will move around the sand much quicker than their green counterparts. They still do the same amount of damage and will still take just two sword slashes to defeat.

Link's Awakening

In Link's Awakening, Leevers appear on Toronbo Shores and Yarna Desert. Similar to in The Legend of Zelda, they will pop out of the ground randomly and move toward Link.

These dumb enemies are huge spinning creatures that pop out of the ground in circles and spin towards Link. They're a pain to avoid and even harder to kill. When they first appear, they begin moving towards the direction Link is traveling. Use this to your advantage and either zigzag as they're appearing or change the direction you're traveling a little after they appear. Link can also get on top of rocks to keep them from attacking. Upon defeating multiple Leevers, a larger, blue/purple Leever (different from the normal green) will appear that will drop a larger amount of Rupees when defeated.

You know about the Leever, right?
It actually moves pretty fast.
That's not exactly good news,
is it?

Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons

Twilight Princess

Enemy: Leever
Attacks: Contact (quarter-heart)
Found: Overworld
Description: Leevers are small, green monsters that pop out of the ground in packs. They attack by ramming into Link simultaneously. Leevers can be defeated by running over them while on horseback, or shooting them with a long-range weapon. It is also quite effective to perform a Spin Attack when a group closes in on the player.
