The Lamp is the first item acquired in A Link to the Past. It is found right after waking up, in a chest located in the southeast corner of Link's House. With the Lamp, Link can light torches and see in dark places. However, it uses up a small amount of Magic Power. If Link does not take the Lamp from the chest in his house, he instead finds it in the Sewers of Hyrule Castle.

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, the Lamp makes its second appearance. It functions similarly to the Lamp in A Link To The Past. However, it does not actively utilize the Energy Gauge, making it infinitely useable. At first, it does half as much damage as the Forgotten Sword Link obtains in the game. It can be upgraded into the Super Lamp by completing the advanced course of the Treacherous Tower. It becomes incredibly powerful, dealing eight times as much damage as before. As a result, the Super Lamp is an useful weapon for close up encounters, though other items may still be more efficient to use.

Trivia

  • When merged into a wall, the Lamp is visible attached to Link's Belt. It also continues to give off light around Link.
