Joel is a character from The Wind Waker who resides on Outset Island.

Overview

Joel is the son of Abe and Rose, and the older brother of Zill. He lives on Outset Island and can be seen carrying a small tree branch.

Joel's favorite thing to do is jump, and is amazed at Link's jumping abilities. When he first meets Link he points the stick that he is holding across a few rocks, which leads to a Yellow Rupee. He teaches Link how to jump by telling him to have a little courage and just run as fast as he can.[1] If Link jumps across and get the Rupees, Joel will tell Link what a great jumper he is and gaze at him admirably. He hopes to someday be able to jump across gaps, just like Link.[2] He wants to grow up as fast as he can so he can be big enough to jump across big boulders.

After Link collects the three pigs on Outset Island, he can return to find just a large pig remaining. When there is only one large pig left, Joel and Zill admit to Link that their family ate them, but Rose denies it and quickly silences the boys.
