Walkthrough

Jitan Sa'mi Shrine is one of the many Shrine of Trials from Breath of the Wild.

Requirements

The peak of the mountain is bitterly cold and Link will need armor with Cold Resistance, such as the Snowquill Set. Alternatively, he can wear the Warm Doublet, along with consuming a meal or elixir with cold resistance. Also bring lots of arrows.

Shrine Quest: The Spring of Wisdom

Main article: The Spring of Wisdom

Speak with Medda at Hateno Village, who can be found during the day working the farm, behind the house that is across from the Kochi Dye Shop. He will guide Link towards the top of Mount Lanayru.

When approaching the peak of the mountain, Link will encounter the giant dragon Naydra, who is covered in Malice. After shooting the Malice Eyeball, Naydra will break free and begin to fly around. Link will need to follow Naydra to the top of Mount Lanayru, then to the Madorna Mountain, and finally to the Naydra Snowfield. After Link has removed all four Malice Eyeballs, Naydra will revert to their normal self.

Link can then shoot Naydra to acquire Naydra's Scale, which he can then offer to the Goddess Statue by throwing it into the spring. This will complete the quest and reveal the shrine.

Jitan Sa'mi's Blessing

After all that effort, the shrine itself contains no challenges at all. Simply move forward and open the chest to get a Frostspear. Examine the altar to speak with Jitan Sa'mi to get a Spirit Orb.

Trivia

  • The shrine is the only spring-related shrine that requires removing the blemish of Malice from its associated dragon.
  • The waters surrounding the spring and shrine do not harm Link, as they aren't gelid in temperature. No other bodies of water in the game behave this way under wintry mountainous conditions like these.
