Impaz is the old woman and the only person left in the run down Hidden Village in Twilight Princess. She cannot leave the village, because she is the last one and is said to have to wait for the "messenger to the heavens" so she can give them the Ancient Sky Book. Before Link met Impaz, the Hidden Village had been taken over by Bulblins. Ilia had also come there, and became friends with Impaz. Impaz knew how to escape and helped Ilia to, but she couldn't leave herself, as she still needed to wait for the messanger.  Ilia left a wooden statue there, which becomes a key ingredient into getting her lost memory back. Link actually has to meet Impaz twice before she calls him the messenger she had been waiting for, because the first time Link didn't have the Dominion Rod. Apparently, the Dominion Rod made Link the messenger, so she gave him the Ancient Sky Book, and she could finally complete her duty. She says her name comes from the founder of the village, suggesting that Hidden Village is Kakariko Village from Ocarina of Time, and that she is named after Impa.

After Link has cleared the village of its menacing inhabitants, he meets the old woman near her house. She reveals herself to be Impaz.TP She then goes on to thank the young hero and hands him the Horse Call, in an attempt to spark Ilia's memory.TP Once he has returned to Kakariko Village and restored Ilia's memory, Link goes back to see Impaz about possible information regarding the "messenger of heavens".
