Igneo Talus are bosses that appear in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity.

Breath of the Wild

"This enormous monster is naturally camouflaged as molten rock. Neither sword nor arrow can pierce its fiery form. Merely touching its magma-hot body can burn you pretty badly, but you may be able to scale it if you can use something to chill its flames."

— In-Game Description

The Igneo Talus is a variant of the Stone Talus that appear in Breath of the Wild. Like their normal counterparts, Igneo Talus hide in the ground as large, molten rocks that only begin to form once Link comes close enough.

Locations

Igneo Talus are commonly found in the Eldin Region of Hyrule, most commonly on Death Mountain. Link is most likely to encounter his first Igneo Talus to the southwest of Gortram Cliff if he chooses to follow the trail to Goron City.

Strategy

Igneo Talus attack in the same manner as other Talus, they will use their arms and body in attempt to crush Link, however, they now cause explosions that can damage him, either by throwing its arms, or slamming its body against the ground. The other challenge the Igneo Talus presents is that its body is far too hot for Link to climb. Climbing onto, and standing on the boss will cause Link to take damage at a fast rate. This can all be avoided, however, with the use of any cold-powered weapons, including Ice Rods and Ice Arrows. Attacking the Talus with any cold weapons will cause it to be stunned, and put out the fire coursing through its body, giving Link time to attack the Ore Deposit on its body, however, the Igneo Talus will try to relight itself after a short period of time.

Like all Talus variations, it's markedly vulnerable to Urbosa's Fury strikes, which deal significant damage to it when knocked down. However, the strikes may fail when the Talus is upright.

Age of Calamity

In Age of Calamity, the Igneo Talus is one of the first of the Talus that are encountered, first appearing in the Daruk, the Goron Hero scenario. The talus will launch flaming rocks out towards a nearby warrior, burst, doing some splash damage to any warriors that are nearby. Additionally, the talus will occasionally smash the ground, causing boulders to come crashing down. When a warrior is nearby, the talus will also leap into the air and come crashing down, trying to squish the warrior.

After using a special attack launch or stunning the talus with a rod, the talus may be temporarily stunned, where it falls to the ground. This gives the warrior an opportunity to deal damage to its gem that is atop of its body. When hit, this will lower its health gauge, allowing a warrior to deliver a critical blow when it is depleted. However, due to its flaming body, a warrior who gets on top of an Igneo Talus will burn up due to the heat, taking damage in the process. An Igneo Talus has a natural weakness to the Ice Rod and a direct hit will stun the talus, crack its health gauge, as well as freeze its body, allowing a warrior to jump on top of the boss.

Igneo Talus often drop rare gems as rewards, including Flint, Amber, Opal, and Ruby. After each Igneo Talus is defeated, the player will receive a Stone Talus Trophy. These can be used to complete quests or upgrade weapons of the various warriors.
