The Ice Rod is a weapon from A Link to the Past. When Link uses this weapon, it shoots out freezing energy to freeze the opponent, but however it does use some of Link's magic from his Magic Meter. It is found on Lake Hylia's shore inside a cave. This item is only necessary to retrieve from this cave when Link travels to Turtle Rock in the Dark World, considering it is needed to defeat Trinexx.
