The Ice Block Cavern is a hidden cavern that can be entered in Twilight Princess. It is found in North Hyrule Field, in the northern portion of the area. In order to enter it, Link needs to first obtain Bombs as the entrance is blocked with a large boulder. Once inside, Link finds a large chunk of ice, stopping his progress through the cavern. In order to break the barrier, he must utilize the Ball and Chain, which can be found in the Snowpeak Ruins. Inside, there are three sets of puzzles, with large Ice Blocks that have to be moved in a certain way to open the door to the next puzzle.

Puzzle #1

Once Link has broken the ice barrier, he is faced with a similar puzzle to which he encountered within Snowpeak Ruins. In order the complete the puzzle correctly, the young hero must move the three blocks in the correct order to leave one stationary on the switch, which lies at the center of the icy surface. Link must first push the block, which lies in northeast corner, westwards. Link can then run directly south, to the southwestern block, and push it to the east and then once north. Link can return to the original block he pushed, which now lies in the northwestern corner, eastwards and then to the north. With the puzzle nearly complete, Link can now focus on the block in the northern area while leaving the other two in their current position. To finish the first puzzle off, Link can simply push this block west, south, east, then north, which activities the switch thus opening the next room.

Puzzle #2

With the first puzzle complete, Link encounters the second room and faces another Ice Block puzzle; however, this time it's rather harder due to the appearance of two switches. Link can start off by pushing the southwestern block to the east and then pushing the northwestern block in the opposite direction. Link must then return to the initial block and push it north, west, and then south - this activates one of the two switches in the room. With one of the cages now open, Link must push the southernmost block to the east, then to the north, then to the west, and finally to the south. The young hero must then push the final block--the northwestern one--to the south, west, north, and east. This action activates the second switch, which in turn opens the path to the third and final room.

Puzzle #3

The final room contains yet another puzzle centered around pushing ice blocks. This time there is only one switch, much like the first room; however this puzzle is much harder as the icy area is a lot larger thus causing more confusion. Link can start by pushing the southeast block to the north; he can then push the block on the other side to the east, north, and then west. Link can return to the original block and push it westwards. He must then move the other western block to the north, which allows the eastern block to be pushed towards the western side of the room. This action causes all three blocks to be grouped together. Link must now push the northwestern block east, south, and then west. Link can then move on to the other northwestern block, pushing it north, east, south, west, and then once again north. The remaining northern block can now be pushed towards the east. This allows the green clad hero to move the southern block east, north, and finally west. Link can finally claim his reward, which is a Piece of Heart.
