Great Deku Tree
The Great Deku Tree is a legendary character in the Zelda series. He is often part of the main motivation for Link to begin his travels and strive to help Hyrule.
Ocarina of Time
In Ocarina of Time, the Great Deku Tree is charged with watching over Link and the other Kokiri children.
The Great Deku Tree is also the character that gives us a big look into the creation of Hyrule. He tells us many things about the creation, such as the story of the Golden Goddesses, how Hyrule was created, and how many things came to be. However, his version is only a legend, so it may, or may not, be completely accurate.
After being cursed by Ganondorf, the Great Deku Tree sends Navi to summon Link. When the two return, he informs Link of the curse and requests that he enter his mouth in order to eliminate the curse. Link successfully defeats the evil dwelling inside of the tree, however, it is too late. The curse has taken its toll, killing the Great Deku Tree.
The Wind Waker
The Great Deku Tree is first seen covered in red and green Chuchus. After removing them, Link is given the Deku Leaf and meets the Koroks. The Great Deku Tree sends Link to find Makar, the smallest Korok, who has been blown into the woods.
After Link completes the third dungeon of the game, the Great Deku Tree will answer his questions about Koroks. He also says that the water in Forest Haven is special and marks the places of wilted forest trees on the sea chart.
