"You got a Golden Skull! A real rarity among skull ornaments, it shines with an eerie, golden color."

— In-game Description[1]

Golden Skulls are collectible items found within Skyward Sword. Despite its shimmering gold appearance, rumor has that it isn't made of pure gold.[2] Opposite to its much more common variation,[3] Golden Skulls are rarely dropped by Bokoblins.[4][5] Instead, they are more frequently found in treasure chests and won through mini-games. They sell for approximately 100 Rupees, but can also be bought for double the price from the Moonlight Merchant.[6] Additionally, they can be used to upgrade certain items.

  2. "A particularly rare skull ornament. It's rumored to be made of something other than gold, despite its color." — In-game Description, Skyward Sword.
  3. "Hey, kid! Looks like you're a bit short on materials. You don't have enough Golden Skulls. Golden Skulls are Ornamental Skulls that shine bright like gold. Seems like they are crazy rare!" — Gondo, Skyward Sword.
  4. "You will need various treasures to enhance items at the Scrap Shop. One of these treasures is called an Ornamental Skull. It is possible to find one when you defeat a Bokoblin. If you are very lucky, you will obtain a precious Golden Skull." — Fi, Skyward Sword.
  5. "And Monster Horns come from the monsters who carry them. You can claim them for yourself by using some sort of tool to snatch them away. Evil Crystals often come from monsters that cast spells. Dark magic... It gives me chills... And rarely, so very rarely...a Golden Skull will be found instead of an Ornamental Skull." — Sparrot, Skyward Sword.
  6. "OK, one Golden Skull it is! This baby's all yours for just 200 Rupees.
Sounds good! :Too much." — Moonlight Merchant, Skyward Sword.
