Currency

Gold Rupee, or a Golden Rupee, is a unit of currency appearing in many titles in the The Legend of Zelda universe. It is usually the largest value Rupee in the games in which it appears.

Appearances and Value

Gold Rupees first appear in Ocarina of Time, where they are known as a Huge Rupee. They are worth 200 rupees each and there are Ten Set Locations where Link can collect a Huge Rupee. Huge Rupees retain the same name and value in Majora's Mask.

In Four Swords, Link can collect small golden Rupee Shards. They are worthless individually, but if Link collects four of them, he will gain a Gold Rupee, which is worth 500 rupees.

In Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks, the largest valued rupees are known as Big Gold Rupees, worth 300 rupees a piece.

Ever since Skyward Sword, the Gold Rupee has maintained a value of 300 rupees, as well as the simple name of Gold Rupee. They have appeared in A Link Between Worlds, Tri Force Heroes, and Breath of the Wild. For the 2019 remake of Link's Awakening (2019), Gold Rupees were introduced, also valued at 300 rupees.
