The Gnat hat is currently in only one Zelda game to date and does not play a major role. It has only appeared in Four Swords Adventures for the Game Boy Advanced or Anniversary edition for the 3ds. The red cap gives the links the ability to shrink down to bug size and access areas unreachable before. When in the tiny state you can walk through tunnels or logs that were to small before, stand on smaller moving platforms, or just use it to make a level more challenging. Like the other items in the game it is found on the various item podiums in the game and must replace you current secondary item to be used.

It has similarities to Ezlo from the Minish Cap, in the sense that he also could shrink you down to microscopic sizes.
