The Gerudo Valley is a location from Ocarina of Time. This valley is located west of Hyrule Field and is divided by a large chasm, at the bottom of which lies Zora's River, whose waters flow to Lake Hylia. The valley is the only way to access Gerudo's Fortress.

History

Gerudo Valley is home to the race known as the Gerudo. The main antagonist of the game, Ganondorf, was born in this land. The hostility of the valley appeared to be the reason for trying to take over Hyrule, so he could provide a better life for himself and his people. However, the power of the Triforce twisted his mind beyond his original goal.

While Link is a child, he cannot normally travel beyond the valley, where the Gerudo's Fortress and Haunted Wasteland can be found, because Gerudo are blocking the way. He can, however, take a cucco and glide down to a small indent at the bottom of the canyon to find a Gerudo, a cow, and Soft Soil for planting Magic Beans. Another ledge that must be glided to contains a crate with a Piece of Heart inside.

As an adult, the bridge that extends across the valley's canyon is gone. Link can get across it using Epona or the Longshot. Once Link rescues all the Carpenters from the Gerudo's Fortress, they will repair the bridge, and a Gerudo will give Link a Gerudo Token, which allows him access to the fortress and the Haunted Wasteland.

Link can also speak to the Running Man in the carpenters' tent to race him from Gerudo Valley to Kokiri Forest. There are also two Gold Skulltulas found in the valley.
