Geldarms are enemies that have appeared in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link.

The Adventure of Link
Geldarm is a strange bug that makes its home in the deserts of Hyrule. It stays low to the ground until their prey draws near. It will extends its long body segment out of the ground and attempts to capture whatever comes by. It can emerge out of the ground randomly to hurt it's enemy. Geldarm also can attack by spitting small stones towards it's enemy.
Only it's head is vulnerable to attack. So, Link must slash at it's body to make it contract to the ground for a few seconds; then kill it with a few slash with the sword in it's head.
