Gale Isle is an island three squares to the east of the Forsaken Fortress in the Great Sea in The Wind Waker. On the outside of the island is a strong wind that keeps anyone from getting close to the middle of the island, protecting the entrance to the Wind Temple inside. If Link gets the Iron Boots from Ice Ring Isle, he can slowly walk through the wind, smashing the source with the Skull Hammer. Inside of the cave is a tablet teaching the Wind God's Aria. Link must bring Makar here in order to play a duet with the deceased Wind Sage Fado to destroy the tablet, opening the entrance to the temple.
