Freezards are frozen enemies made primarily out of ice, and have made their appearance in three different The Legend of Zelda titles. These three games include Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess. They appear as large pieces of ice that blow an icy breath. This icy breath has the ability to freeze Link[1], making him slowly lose hearts the longer he is frozen.[2] In Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the Freezards are much smaller when compared to their Twilight Princess counterparts. A much smaller form of Freezards, known as Mini-Freezards, appear in Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks.

In Ocarina of Time, Link finds Freezards exclusively within the Ice Cavern. Link can either use his Sword to kill them or to simply evade them entirely.

In Majora's Mask, Freezards appear in the Snowhead Temple. They are exactly the same as they are in Ocarina of Time.

Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess, Freezards appear mostly in the Snowpeak Ruins; however, they can also be found in a few of the small caves around Hyrule, which includes the Cave of Ordeals. Link is unable to defeat them with the use of his Sword in this particular game. Because of this inability, he must use the Ball and Chain to defeat them. It takes two hits with the Ball and Chain to defeat them. After a Freezard has been defeated, it splits into four to five Mini-Freezards. Alternatively, Link can kill a Freezard by utilizing the multiple Cannons that can be found in the Snowpeak Ruins. Freezards act more like an obstacle rather than an enemy; most of the time, they are stationary and block doorways.
