NOTE: Before entering, a few green potions might be a good idea, as you use Din's Fire fairly regularly here and magic potion is hard to come by inside.

As you enter, you'll see a stairway leading up to three tiki-looking statues (only one is lit). Go through the door on the left/bottom of the stairs, and a Like Like will drop down on top of you, eating your tunic (if its the red one) and shield (if you have one equipped) before you can even react. If it gets both (it can get both at the same time) you'll only get one back upon victory. Defeat it for a small chest with a new Hylian Shield. (Remember, save this chest until you need it, you can always come back for it.) Back to the first room.

Head towards the stairs and a fire will block your path. Climb up the side to avoid it, and use Din's Fire in the middle to light the two unlit torches. Quickly run up and use it again near the unlit Tikis to open the next door. After a short chat with Darunia, jump across to the right and use your hookshot. Climb up and break the crates to reveal a second torch here. Jump down by the first torch and use Din's fire to light them both. Quickly jump into the lava (your red tunic will protect you for a short while) and run across to the other side. Climb up and use Din's Fire before the first two torches burn out to light the third, opening the gate on the same platform as the third torch for a small key.

Back to the first room, take the bottom/right door using your new key. Kill the Keese, and then take the fight to the two Stalfos. (They don't regenerate eachother.) After winning, play the sun song in the middle to get a red fairy spirit if you need health. Through the next door, raise your shield or dodge until the tiles stop flying at you. Head towards the suit of armor to find out it's really an...

New Enemy: Iron Knuckle

Watch out for its ax attack! It hurts a lot! Strike when it drops its guard.

These behemoth warriors clad in armor are quite the force to be reckoned with. Their powerful ax can take a good chunk out of your life in a single swing. The best method is to lure them to attack, then rush in and get a hit between strikes. Bombs can damage them too. Halfway through the battle, they lose a layer of armor and run faster, but it also makes them more vulnerable to your sword.

The best method to deal with these guys is to [] target them and back away. When they start advancing their guard is down, so use a jump attack and immediately back away before it counterattacks. Continue this about 6 times and it goes down no sweat. Just make sure it doesn't hit you, because it takes so much health just three or four hits can kill you! After the fight break some pots if you need health/items, as there are fairies and items waiting in them for you. Through the new door you'll find...

New Enemy: Flare Dancer

Extinguish its flaming clothes first...

This enemy looks like a stubby-legged bomb, with a skirt, puffy old fashioned "prince charming" shirt, and pantaloons, all made out of color-changing fire and spikes. You cannot hurt it while it is like this, however. Use an item to remove him from his dancer's suit before he has a chance to attack in order to defeat him.

As soon as you enter a Flare Dancer's room, it will jump out of the fire in the center and begin fighting. You need to incapacitate him before he can do any damage, so target him and use your hookshot (a few items work, but Hookshot is the best option) and when he's spinning pull him in. You'll have to retarget him, then slice with your sword before he can run. As he comes around towards you from the other direction, meet him with a jump attack. He'll jump back into the fire, and come out with a different color (if you hurt him enough, otherwise he'll be the same color again). Repeat this process a few times and he's done for. Back up as it explodes, then claim the chest left behind for your...

New Item: Megaton Hammer
This heavy hammer with a corny name can be used to smash things like boulders and rusty switches. It's great weight means you must use two hands to hold it, meaning unfortunately you can't use your shield at the same time. You can defend with it itself, though it is only effective about half of the time. It's slower than a sword, but can still be useful in battle. Outside of battle, this can still be used to smash dark/light brown boulders, open up holes in the ground, and flip ground-based enemies. Although often overlooked, this is one of the most useful items in the game if you use it right.

Through the new door (the one without a face on it) and hammer the swith to release the first Goron. After he runs off telling YOU to help Darunia, raid the room to find the map in the large chest. Exit back to the first room again, and head upstairs and smash the totem pole to get to the big lava-filled room. Jump across to the right, then hookshot over the wall of fire to the torch. Light it with Din's Fire, then bomb the doorframe. Use Din's Fire here to free the Goron and get the small key, then leave this room.

Turn around and make your way across to the other end. Now that the hookshot targets have risen navigation should be easier. One of the platforms on the other side near the wall should shake, then rocket into the air instead of sink. Jump to the little alcove with a pot, and use Din's Fire. Quickly, shoot through the fire to the torch near the barred door to unlock it. Jump down, through the lower door to save a Goron in exchange for a Golden Skulltula. Back ouside, hookshot and use the top door. Block the tiles, then hookshot through the fire and flames to claim the boss key.

Back to the big room, take the last door with your small key. Climb up the wire fence, and jump onto the block as it's rising to ride it up through to the ceiling. Through the door, use light the oversized torch (seriously, little flame, big torch) and use the hookshot target to make your way up to the top. Defeat the Lizalfos and climb (or hookshot) up. This room is nothing but a breeding ground for more Lizalfos, but they are no problem anymore. Head left and find the false wall in a little alcove.

Destroy the Skullwalltula (Fun Fact; now that you have the Hammer, you can get an "infinite kills" glitch: kill a Skullwalltula, and while it's bouncing on the ground, smash it with the hammer. It will die again, and when it's bouncing on the ground, smash it with the hammer. It will die again, and when it's bouncing on the ground....) Smash the rusty switch to raise the hookshot targets. On the top, bomb the breakable floor and fall down below. Break the crates, smash the switch, and claim your compass. Climb back up, and head to the south area (on top). Time a bomb to hit the switch and jump over. The crate at the left hides a chest (though, funnily enough, you can get the chest through the crate; stand on the right side, face the crate and press your action button) with bombs. Climb on the crate(s) at the right, and pick up a box. Carry it all the way to the south, and bomb the other false wall to find a blue switch. Set the box down and continue through.

Release the Goron, take the key, and back. Find a way back up, and take the door on the northwest side with your key. Climb over the fence to your left. Hookshot to the crate, grab a box, and jump down to place it on the blue switch. Stand between those two torches and shoot at the torch on the wall above the blue switch to open the door to the west. In this room, just straight forward and use the Megaton Hammer on this block to knock the pillar from the room you saw Darunia in into the ground. (We have everything we need now to take on the boss. However, while we're here, let's do a little more collecting and exploring. If you'd like to finish it now, jump down into the hole, then head for the bosses room.)

Now, jump to the ground, and use the song of time near the pillar surrounded by fire (keep the time block near the entrance there). Back to the entrance, jump over and onto the newly-floating time block, and jump off towards the northeast door. Defeat the Lizalfos here to claim your Golden Skulltula. Back to the last room, again, play the Song of Time to put the block back and use it to jump over the flames. Climb/jump your way back up to where you were and finally go through the door. Hookshoot to the target in this room, hammer the switch, then use the target block to jump over the fire. The little alcove has a false wall hiding a Golden Skulltula.

Take the north door, and work your way to the switch. Race past the shortly-extinguished flames, and take the door for another fight with a fire-dancer. After defeating it the same way as the last one, climb on and quickly drop from the center block. As it rises, claim the small key hiding underneath. Jump on it again, and ride it to the top. Climb all the way up, and enter a large circular room. The switch you need to press is in the moat around the left side. First thing hit the diamond switch, then go for the button switch. It's on a timer, and it turns off the fire around the chest. There are a few ways you can do it: Easiest is to simply get the scarecrow directly above and hookshot to him. Alternatively, you can run back until you can climb on the wall and take a run up that to the top just before the fire comes back on, or you can run back to the beginning, hookshot to the target, and jump to the chest from there.

After getting the key, head back where the diamond switch is. Hammer the face-square thing into the ground, fall after it and use the key there. As soon as you enter, a Stalfos will ambush you. Deal with him, then use the Megaton Hammer on the face-square to lower the squares. As you climb down, another stalfos will ambush you, so deal with him too. When you near the bottom, Navi will target the face on the wall. Hookshot him right in the nose to unlock the door.

Go through, claim the Golden Skulltula on the wall, then hammer the face-square down. Fall through after it, and you end up in the room with the fire-walls and time blocks. Fall through where you hammered the large pillar earlier, and head for the boss door. Jump straight onto the giant whack-a-mole platform and prepare for the party.

Temple Boss: Subterranean Lava Dragon, Volvagia

Volvagia

It's the Boss of the Fire Temple, revived by the Evil King. I don't know its weak point...

Wow, thanks Navi for that incredible advice... This worm-like oblong dragon has you trapped on a hexagon shaped platform surrounded by lava. Should you fall in, don't worry, because you can climb up the sides and back onto the main platform. Should the need arise, you can actually climb off to the side on purpose to avoid being hit by any of his attacks. All its attacks are somewhat awkward to avoid and they all do a great deal more damage than the other bosses you've faced thus far.

Volvagia has two main attacks it cycles through somewhat randomly. In each he flies around, and will eventually head back down through a hole. When he pops back up, if he doesn't immediately go flying off again, it's your chance to smash his face with the Megaton hammer. This stuns him, giving you a chance to slice away with your sword. Watch the holes for which he comes out of. It will flame shortly before he arises, and if he's taken some damage, he'll switch it up randomly so you may take off after the wrong hole. Don't stand too close when he comes up or he'll headbutt you. He also has a chance to fly around the room, doing nothing but wasting time.

The first attack is flying up to the ceiling and bumping against it, causing flaming rocks to fall down. They will fall under the general area where Volvagia is on the ceiling, and Volvagia tries to stay above you. If you run circles around the platform you should be fine, making sure to avoid any shadows just in case.

The second attack is to come out of the lava and fly around the arena, trying to breathe fire at you. While this does loads of damage and knocks you over (potentially into the lava below) it's easily avoided by simply standing next to the hole he originally comes out of; the reason being, because he doesn't have a very tight turn radius and he's too stupid to simply back up. Alternatively, you can run around like a chicken with your head cut off, circling the area, or just Z target him and use your shield. Standing still is easier in my opinion. =)

The more damage he takes, the more aggressive and rapid his attacks become, but he's still fairly predictable and not too difficult once you watch his patterns. If you've ever fought him before, you know he originally is a harder boss because of his strong attacks and resiliancy, but in the end he's one of the easiest because he is so predictable.

After several hits, it'll grab it's head and scream as it goes back into the lava, only to emerge to fly around as it burns from the inside out and it's skeleton falls to the ground disintigrating. The triumphant music will announce the appearance of the blue teleporting light. Make sure you snag the Heart Container before you go though!
