This is the first sword Link gets in A Link to the Past, and it is given to him as his uncle dies in the basement of Hyrule Castle. The Fighter's Sword is Link's primary weapon until he collects all three Pendants of Virtue, at which point the blade is replaced when Link obtains the legendary Master Sword.
