Dexivines[1] are plant-like enemies that appear in The Wind Waker. These enemies can be found in the Forbidden Woods and the Wind Temple, often hiding in grassy areas. While Dexivines are similar to Dexihands and Tailpasaran, these enemies conceal most of their body underground, only a portion of the Dexivine's claw is shown.

When Link approaches them, the Dexivine reveals the rest of their body, being a blue tentacle with a purple claw attached at the top. While Link is approaching one of them, the Dexivine attempts to grab onto him.[2] If they succeed, the Dexivine drains Link's magic but do not damage him.[3] Once attached to Link, Dexivines cannot come off unless he cuts the tentacles off with almost all of his items like the sword, bombs, and Skull Hammer.

When underground, Link can defeat them with the Bow or the Boomerang. However, they grow back shortly after and continue to grow back no matter how many times Link cuts the Dexivine.[4] As a result, it is best for Link to cut the Dexivines apart and proceed before they grow back, or he can avoid them entirely.[5]
