Template:Item A bombchu is an item that appears in 6 Zelda titles: Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons, Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass. It is almost exactly like a bomb, with only a couple of differences. A bombchu can be placed on the ground, from which it will crawl forward until it makes contact with something, and at that point it will explode. It can also crawl up walls. It looks like a mouse, hence crawling on the floor. It is very useful against enemies that are far away.

Ocarina of Time

After you have the Bomb Bag, you can get Bombchus in a number of places. They can be bought from the Bombchu Shop in the Back Alley of Hyrule Castle Town and from the Carpet Merchant in the Haunted Wasteland. You can also get them from chests in various parts of Hyrule, and won as prizes at the Bombchu Bowling Alley. You can also get them from the House of the Skulltula after you have gathered 40 Gold Skulltula Tokens.

You can only hold up to 50 at a time, and there are no upgrades for this limit. They are required in only two places: the Spirit Temple and Ganon's Tower.

The design of the Bombchu in Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask

Majora's Mask

The Bombchus in Majora's Mask are very similar to the ones in Ocarina of Time. In this game they are completely optional, and not required at all. They can be purchased once you have a Bomb Bag. They are required, however, to complete one of the four Moon Dungeons. Bombchus are also required for one of the mini-games in Honey & Darling's Shop. This game also introduced the Real Bombchu, an enemy that appears in Termina and returns in The Wind Waker.

The Oracle Games

In the Oracle games, Bombchus can only be obtained in a Linked game. They are much similar to the previous games, but also home in on enemies and explode. After you have obtained them, you can buy them from Syrup.

Twilight Princess

Main article: Bombling

In Twilight Princess, they are not actually called Bombchus but Bomblings. They behave much in the same way, though. They still run forwards and explode on contact, but they look different and cannot go up walls.

Phantom Hourglass

In Phantom Hourglass, Bombchus are obtained in the Goron Temple. They are used very differently to in the previous Zelda titles, as in this game you can control them by drawing their path on the touchscreen. When you use them, the touchscreen will change to the map and zoom in on that area, so you can draw their path. You can move around while the Bombchu is moving, and some puzzles make this necessary. There are litle holes in walls in many places, and bombchus are the only things that can fit through these holes. The Bombchus in this game are not carried in the Bomb Bag, but in the Bombchu Bag.
