Blue Darknuts are recurring enemies in The Legend of Zelda series.[1] They are one of many Darknut variants found throughout the Zelda series, first appearing in The Legend of Zelda. Blue Darknuts are stronger than their Red Darknut counterparts.
The Legend of Zelda
In The Legend of Zelda, Blue Darknuts are some of the most challenging enemies in the game, appearing in Level 5: The Lizard and Level 8: The Lion, as well as various dungeons in the Second Quest.
Darknuts wield a shield, making them invulnerable from frontal attacks. Instead, Link will need to strike the Darknut from behind, or from its side. Bombs are also an effective weapon against Blue Darknuts. While they are identical to their Red Darknut counterparts, Blue Darknuts have more health. By the time Link enters Level 5: The Lizard, he should have acquired the White Sword, making the battle with Blue Darknuts slightly easier. When encountered in Level 8: The Lion, Blue Darknuts are often accompanied by Stone Statues that shoot fireballs at Link. It is highly recommended that Link acquire the Magical Sword before taking on these challenging enemies.
Oracle of Seasons
In Oracle of Seasons, Blue Darknuts appear later in the game, first appearing within Explorer's Crypt. They sometimes wield swords and will charge towards Link and other variants will toss spears out towards Link. They have more health than their Red Darknut counterparts.
Oracle of Ages
Blue Darknuts appear just outside of Symmetry Village in the Past. They appear on identical on an identical screen in the past, whereas Red Darknuts appear on the screen in the Present. With the Wooden Sword, it will take 5 hits to defeat a Blue Darknut.
