"Years of going unpicked have allowed this hearty truffle to grow quite large. It's chock- full of nutrients. When cooked into a dish, it temporarily increases your maximum hearts."

Breath of the Wild In-Game Description

Big Hearty Truffle is a type of mushroom and material found in Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

Appearances

Breath of the Wild

A Big Hearty Truffle will restore 3 hearts when eaten raw, or 4.5 hearts if roasted into a Toasted Big Hearty Truffle over an open flame. Their main effect, however, is in Recipes, where a single Big Hearty Truffle will create a Hearty Mushroom Skewer which fully recovers Link's Heart Container, and adds a minimum of 4 Temporary Hearts on top. Adding more Hearty items will further increase the number of Temporary Hearts.

Big Hearty Truffles can also be used to create Black Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village.

Location

Big Hearty Truffles are rare mushrooms that appear primarily in the Hebra and Akkala provinces of Hyrule. As they are not very common, they do not appear in large clusters. However, there are a handful in the Torin Wetland, just east of the Akkala Tower. There are also a few in the forest, just north of the Spring of Power in Akkala. There are a few located in the Woodland Tower region as well, but they are very spaced out. A handful lie just off the path, near trees, on the road that leads northeast to the Snowfield Stable.
