Template:Enemy

Bees are overworld enemies that appear when Link disturbs certain trees. Bees usually attack in groups, and can be difficult to deal with.

Appearances

A Link to the Past

Bees are enemies that appear in A Link to the Past. They sometimes appear when Link dashes into trees with the Pegasus Boots. Some times a single bee will appear, other times a group of bees will appear. Bees can be caught and stored in a bottle using the Bug Net.

When a Bee is released from a bottle, it will serve as a weapon of sorts. It will attack a nearby enemy a number of times before flying off.

Golden Bee

Main article: Golden Bee

Another variation of the bee also appears in A Link to the Past, with a shiny blue color. Referred to as a Good Bee in the Super Nintendo version of the game and as a Golden Bee in the Game Boy Advance remake, this Bee is a more powerful ally in combat than the regular bee as it won't fly away. Link can also sell the Golden Bee in Kakariko Village for 100 Rupees.

Link's Awakening

Bees are only seen once in Link's Awakening, during the Trading Sequence. Link finds Tarin in Ukuku Prairie watching a hive of bees. When he sees Link's Stick, he asks to borrow it.[1] He then tries to knock down the beehive with it, but they end up coming out of the hive and attacking him, chasing him away. Link can pick up the Honeycomb after Tarin and the bees disappear.[2]

Four Swords Adventures

Twilight Princess

Main article: Hylian Hornet

Bees in Twilight Princess are called Hylian Hornets. They are seen a couple of times, and serve the main purpose of making Bee Larvae which Link can use as bait with his Fishing Rod.

Phantom Hourglass

In Phantom Hourglass, some trees on Cannon Island have beehives on them. When Link rolls into these trees, the bees will emerge and attack relentlessly. A spin attack is the best way to defeat them. Bees also appear on Dee Ess Island in random spots on the ground. Link only knows they are there after digging them up.

Spirit Tracks

In Spirit Tracks, when Link rolls into or hits a tree with a beehive, the bees will come out and attack. The way they attack is very similar to the bees in Phantom Hourglass, and several other games. They will fly away if Link jump into water or enter a new area. Sometimes, the beehive will drop Bee Larvae. Besides opening chests, this is the only way to obtain Bee Larvae.
