Apples are reoccurring items in The Legend of Zelda series.

A Link to the Past

Apple.png

In A Link to the Past, Link can find apples by dashing into certain trees using his Pegasus Boots. Each apple that Link acquires will restore one Recovery Heart.

In the Game Boy Advance version of A Link to the Past, the apple is an answer to one of the clues in the Riddle Quest to obtain the Hurricane Spin.

Twilight Princess

In Twilight Princess, apples are sold along with Bread and Pretty Flowers at one of the shops in the Castle Town market. The 'get item' chime will play, but Link is not able to pick up the apple, nor does it have any use.

A Link Between Worlds

In A Link Between Worlds, Link can find apples by dashing into certain trees using his Pegasus Boots. Two different types of apples exist; red apples and green apples. Both can be placed in Bottles for later consumption.

If Link dashes into a tree or uses the Tornado Rod next to it, apples might fall out. Each red apple that Link acquires restores one heart. Red apples are fairly common and easy to find. Green Apples are much rarer, and will restore three hearts. Link's chances at finding them are better when the StreetPass Tree is planted by Gramps. This apple tree has more apples if Link gets more StreetPasses. It is the only tree that has visible apples. Apples can also be caught with the Net and stored in a Bottle for later consumption.

Breath of the Wild

"A common fruit found on trees all around Hyrule. Eat it fresh, or cook it to increase its effect."

— In-game description[1]

Apples (162 in the standard Breath of the Wild Hyrule Compendium) can be found all over the place in Hyrule, typically hanging from trees, but also in Wooden Crates located around Bokoblin Camps and can spawn from Amiibo. They can also be found near Stables and in concrete bowls that are a part of Korok puzzles. Apples are the most common fruit found in the game, as well as the first fruit available to Link after awakening. One fresh, uncooked apple will restore ½ of a heart. Apples can also be used as an ingredient for Red Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop. Apples can be cooked on an open fire to obtain a Baked Apple, which will restore ¾ of a heart. They can also be used in a variety of Recipes, like Simmered Fruit and other recipes.

There are dozens of Apple trees found throughout Hyrule that result in Link acquiring Korok Seeds. Often there are three identical trees, with the only difference being that two of the trees have a single apple, with the third tree having several more. Link must selective pick or shoot the apples with arrows, so that all three trees match, causing the Korok to appear. The biggest orchard of apples in the game is located on the eastern side of Satori Mountain, with dozens of trees and hundreds of apples to pick.

Link's Awakening (Nintendo Switch)

Apples appear in the Nintendo Switch remake of Link's Awakening. They can be found in certain trees in the overworld. If Link runs in to these trees using the Pegasus Boots, three apples will drop to the ground. They can be eaten, restoring Link's life. Trees can contain either red apples or green apples. Red apples restore one heart, while green restore three.

There are six apple trees on Koholint Island. The locations are:

"A common fruit eaten by people since ancient times. Eat it fresh, or cook it to increase its effect."

— In-game description

Apples are most commonly found hanging from trees, though they can also appear in breakable pots on the Great Sky Island. They will restore ½ a heart when eaten. Apples can be cooked on an open fire to obtain a Baked Apple, which will restore ¾ of a heart. They can also be used in a variety of Recipes, like Simmered Fruit. Occasionally found near regular apples, one can find a Golden Apple.
