An Ancient Text

An Ancient Text is a book found in Calip's house, located just east of Fort Hateno in from Breath of the Wild.[1]

Calip is a research and has been analyzing the text of the book.[2] The text reveals a hint that is part of The Cursed Statue Shrine Quest, where Link needs to pierce the gaze of the statue's eye at nighttime. During the daytime, Calip will head over to the graveyard of statues, located just northeast of his cabin. He is researching these statues but he is unable to solve the riddle as he leaves the area before night falls.[3][4] At nighttime, one of the statues will light up with purple eyes and Link can shoot it with an arrow to reveal the Kam Urog Shrine, completing the shrine quest.
