The amiibo Rune is a Rune ability for the Sheikah Slate in Breath of the Wild. It is unlocked once Link receives the Paraglider and leaves the Great Plateau. Use of the amiibo Rune must be toggled on in the Options menu.
This Rune allows the player to use their amiibo in order to summon various items. All amiibo from The Legend of Zelda Series have unique effects, such as summoning otherwise unobtainable weapons, armor, or companions.
Usage
When used, the amiibo Rune will display a circular marking on the ground a short distance away from Link. The player may then scan a Legend of Zelda Series amiibo on the NFC point on the controller, which will produce a certain effect based on the amiibo. Some amiibo will summon a small amount of Raw Meat and Arrows along with a chest, which may contain rare items like weapons, armor, or special arrows, as well as having a chance to contain a rare amiibo-exclusive item. Other amiibo may summon a companion such as Wolf Link or the horse Epona. Each amiibo may only be used once per day.
