Altar of the Demon King

The Altar of the Demon King is a location featured within Spirit Tracks, located at the top of the Tower of Spirits, looking over New Hyrule. The Demon King, Malladus, is imprisoned within the alter by the powers of the Spirits of Good.

Story

"Now there is but one temple left until all the tracks are restored. Once they are, we'll be able to enter the altar of the Demon King.[1]"

After Link and Princess Zelda restore the Tower of Spirits to its original state, they climb it in an attempt to prevent Chancellor Cole from finally reviving the powerful Malladus. They encounter Byrne once again, who challenges them to a duel to stop them reaching Cole. Link defeats him, but the battle gave Chancellor Cole enough time to successfully revives Malladus using Princess Zelda's body as a vessel on the Altar of the Demon King. Cole and Malladus escape aboard the Demon Train, and betray Byrne. Anjean appears suddenly and tells Link and Princess Zelda that the only weapon with the power to stop Malladus is the sacred Bow of Light, which can rid Malladus from Zelda's body. Link and Princess Zelda climb to the Altar of the Demon King again, after Byrne reveals to them that the Compass of Light is needed to find Malladus, to activate two golden Eye Switches which, when pressed, reveal a new area below the altar.
