The Suthorn Ruins Walkthrough is a full guide for the Suthorn Ruins, the first dungeon featured in Echoes of Wisdom. This includes navigating the dungeon, opening all chests, and taking on the dungeon boss, the Seismic Talus.
Find the Dungeon Map
- In the second room of the dungeon, Zelda will find a large boulder, which Tri uses to teach her the Bind mechanic. Zelda can face the block and then press 'X' to use Bind. Zelda can then walk around and the object she binds with will follow her exact movements. Using Bind, Zelda can move the large block onto the floor switch, opening the nearby door.
- In the next room, Zelda can use Bind on the large block and move it to the open at the north end of the room. She can then climb the ramp and head left a screen. Here she can use Bind on the Treasure Chest to pull it up to get 5 portions of Radiant Butter
- Back in the previous room, after moving the large rock, Zelda can climb down the ladder.
- In the side-scrolling area, Zelda can defeat the enemy Strandtula here to learn the Strandtula Echo. Using this Echo, Zelda cause a Strandtula to appear, with its web connecting to the ceiling, allowing Zelda to climb up. Using the Strandtula, Zelda can reach the chest here which contains the Dungeon Map. Zelda can then exit the area to the right.
Use Bind to move the large boulder onto the ground switch Pull up the chest with Bind to get some Radiant Butter Use a Strandtula Echo to climb up Open the chest here to get the Dungeon Map
Swordfighter Form
- Use a variety of Echoes to climb up and head left a screen. Walk up and ride the elevator to the higher floor.
- Continue up to find a Darknut. Zelda can use a Rock Echo and repeatedly throw rocks at the Darknut to damage it. If the Darknut gets close to Zelda, she can use Bind to grab the enemy and push it further away. After defeating the strong enemy, Zelda can learn the Darknut Echo.
- Continue to the left and head down the ladder in the next room. In this side-scrolling area, Zelda will need to light all the torches. One such torch is at the bottom of the room and she can ignite it by dropping an Ignizol. Zelda can then use Bind to move the Boulder that is in the way. There are some Wooden Boxes above that Zelda can also burn down with an Ignizol. If Zelda does not have an Ignizol Echo, she can burn existing objects to then use to light the torches, such as Wooden Boxes or Decorative Shrubs.
- After resurfacing, Zelda will find four statues on the wall, with one of them carrying a shield. Use Bind to grab the shield and pull it off, opening the nearby door.
- In the next room there are some Dark Keese and a pair of Darknuts. On the left side of the room, Zelda can use Old Beds to reach the treasure chest, which holds 50 rupees.
- Zelda can travel north to find the Link Echo. Link wields a sword and shield and will block any Echo attacks from the front. There are several ways to attack Link, but an efficeint way is to drop an echo such as a Darknut, right in front of Link. Then run around to the backside of Link and drop an Echo right by Link's backside. The echo will attack Link before he can turn around and defend himself. After stunning Link, the echoes can then deal damage.
- Link will become a slightly faster version of himself in the next phase, but the strategy remains the same. Keep hitting Link until he has been defeated.
- Left behind, Zelda can pickup the mysterious sword. This gives Zelda the ability to change into the Swordfighter Form, where Zelda can fight using a Link-like moveset. However, she can only remain in this form as long as she has energy in the Energy Gauge at the corner of the screen. Once the gauge is depleted, she will revert to her normal form.
- Using the sword in Swordfighter Form, Zelda can break the barrier to the north and head down the ladder.
Toss a Rock at the Darknut vUse an Ignizol to light the torch Light the Wooden Boxes on fire, which will light the other torch Use an Echo such as the Darknut Echo to hit Link from behind Collect the Mysterious Sword to gain the Swordfighter Form ability
Find the Big Key
- In the underground area, drop to the bottom and use Bind on the large boulder. Pull it back to the left and jump, so it sits in the opening on the ground.
- Climb up on the left and drop down to land on top of the large boulder. From here, Zelda can use a Table or Old Bed Echo to climb to the right. Zelda can then use a Strandtula Echo to create a web and reach the chest, which holds a Heart Pin. This is the first Accessory that Zelda can acquire. Zelda should go into her menu and equip it, as it will cause Recovery Hearts to appear more often. NOTE: If you are playing on Hero difficulty, hearts will not appear, even with the pin equipped. Exit the underground area to the southeast.
- Continue up and left a screen to face off with some Deku Babas. By far the easiest way to defeat them is for Zelda to pull the enemies with Bind to defeat them quickly. Alternatively, Zelda can use a variety of Echoes, including a Peahat Echo or Keese Echo. Zelda will need to switch to Swordfighter Form to slash the purple barrier on the left.
- Continue through the door to the left to find a chest on the other side of the gate. Use Bind on the stone statue and while connected, walk to the left and climb the steps. This will cause the statue to appear on the higher ledge in the back of the room. Walk to the right and move the statue onto the floor switch, causing the gate to open. Open the chest to get 50 rupees.
- From the Deku Baba room, head up a screen to find another Deku Baba, behind the gate. Grab it with Bind and pull on it, causing it to tumble into the abyss. Collect the small key from the treasure chest and backtrack down and right a screen.
- There are four statues in this room, with three of them aligned properly. Grab the statue at the top-right and move it so the four statues make a perfect square. With the gate lowered, head down the ladder.
- Right the moving platform to the right. In the next area, Zelda will need to use a new ability Tri teaches her, Reverse Bond. Target the platform above and use Bind. Release X and then press and hold R. The platform will start moving to the right and Zelda will move along with it. Zelda can use this to get across the gap.
- Zelda will have to use Reverse Bond a number of times to navigate this room. She can reach a treasure chest at the top-right which contains 20 rupees.
- After climbing the ladder, Zelda will find a chest on the other side of the gate. Zelda will need to move the statue on top of the switch. Since the switch is higher up, Zelda will need to use an echo, such as a Table Echo that she can jump on top of, to lift the statue. Place a table to the left and then use bind on the statue. Jump on top of the table to drop the statue onto the floor switch. Open the chest to get the Big Key.
Move the large boulder using Bind Place Tables to jump up to the right Use a Strandtula Echo to reach the chest, which contains a Heart Pin Defeat the Deku Baba with bind or by using an Echo Use Swordfighter Form to slash the purple barrier Use Reverse Bond to get across the gap Reach the chest to get 20 Rupees Place a Table on the left side and then use Bind to grab the statue Place it on the switch and then open the chest to get the Big Key
Defeat the Seismic Talus
- After acquiring the Big Key, Zelda can backtrack down a screen and left a screen. After activating the Waypoint, she can enter the door to take on the dungeon boss, Seismic Talus.
- During the first phase of the battle, there is a purple orb at the bottom of the Seismic Talus. Zelda can use Bind and pull the orb out, or can attack it using a variety of different Echoes.
- After hitting the orb enough times, the Seismic Talus will crumble, leaving only the orb. Use echoes to deal damage to the orb. Swapping to Swordfighter Form briefly to use the sword can clear this boss quickly.
- In the second phase, the orb is now on the Talus' shoulder. So this time Zelda will need to use echoes that can fly, or have projectile attacks. Alternatively, the easiest strategy is to again use Bind and just pull the orb out.
- In the third and final phase, the Seismic Talus turns red and moves a bit quicker. The orb is now on top of its head. When it pounds the ground, Zelda can grab it with Bind and pull it out. Deliver enough hits to defeat the boss.
- Zelda can collect the Heart Container that is left behind and then speak to Tri to warp out of the dungeon.
The Seismic Talus will awaken Use an Echo to hit the purple orb Change to Swordfighter Form to deal damage Use Bind to pull the orb out Collect the Heart Container that is left behind
Post-Suthorn Ruins
- After completing the dungeon, Zelda will be joined by Minister Lefte. She suggests visiting the location that Impa marked on the map.
- Follow Minister Lefte back to the west and enter the building.
- Inside, Zelda will meet with Impa's brother, Lueburry. Tri will fly up into the air and mention that she sees multiple large rifts in other areas of the world. This will complete The Mysterious Rifts quest and will begin the Searching for Everyone quest.
- At this point, the world opens up for Zelda. She can explore much of the overworld and visit either of the two rifts. Each one leads to a different area and a different dungeon, of which Zelda can complete them in whichever order she likes.
