The Lanayru Temple Walkthrough is a full guide for the Lanayru Temple, the dungeon featured in Echoes of Wisdom. This includes navigating the dungeon, opening all chests, and taking on the dungeon boss, Skorchill.
Initial Rooms
- From the entrance head up and right a screen to find a room with a red orb on the right side. The goal is to use Bind and grab this orb, bringing it over to the pedestal on the left without dropping it on the ground.
- Use Old Bed Echoes on the water to create a path to the red orb. Stand immediately adjacent to the orb and use Bind to grab it. Carry it over without dropping it and without it hitting any walls. Placing it on the pedestal will cause the fan in the previous room to blow warm air, melting the ice.
- The room on the left side has a pair of Ice Octos, which can be defeated with a fire echo, such as a Fire Wizzrobe. A chest will appear that contains 5 portions of Rock Salt. Return to the previous room and head down the ladder.
- Defeat the Snowmauls that are in the underground area. There is a chest up above and Zelda can reach it using a variety of echoes. The easiest is to use a series of Strandtula Echoes and climb up to reach the chest, which contains 3 Monster Fangs. Head down the ladder on the right side.
Grab it with Bind and place it on the pedestal to thaw out the previous room Use a fire echo to clear the Ice Octos Climb up to the chest using a Strandtula Echo
Small Key
- Use bind to move the Boulder so that it blocks the cold air and then head up along the left side.
- Black the cold with the boulder and head up on the left side. Grab the orb on the other side of the fence and carry it to the left. Zelda can use echoes or a well-timed jump to leap over the cold air and place the fire orb on the pedestal. If it touches the cold ice, it will turn blue, negating its fire element. Place it on the pedestal and it will cause the previous room to thaw out.
- Return to the room below, dive down in the water, and grab the Small Key.
- Return to the room above and this time allow the orb to pass through the cold air and place it on the pedestal. The previous room will freeze once again.
- Head back again and this time use the Boulders in the room, as well as a Boulder Echo or other echoes to block off the cold air on the right and create a ramp leading up to the locked door. Use the small key and head down the ladder.
Second Small Key
- Throughout this underground area, Zelda will encounter numerous Stalactites, as well as some cold air blowing. Zelda can use Bind to grab the stalactites and use them to shield herself from the cold air.
- Carefully climb down and then back up on the right side. Continue down passed some more cold air and climb down the ladder.
- At the start of the room there is some cold air blowing. Zelda can use some echoes to get by. However, there is a secret door up above. Use a Platboom Echo to reach the door and inside Zelda will find a chest that contains a Golden Egg.
- Zelda will need to use echoes to get by this room. While there are multiple combinations of echoes that do work, a simple way to navigate the room is to use Water Block Echoes to create a path that goes over the cold air all together. Continue passed the cold air and head up a screen.
- On the left side there are six ice blocks. Zelda can push the one at the top-right to find a hidden staircase.
- Climb down and defeat the Freeze Slug that is crawling around.
- Zelda will need to use Bind to grab the heat orb at the bottom of the room and then carefully carry it up to the top of the room and place it on the pedestal at the top-right. In order to do this, Zelda will need to use echoes at the top-left of the room, so he can climb up there, avoiding the heat orb being cooled off by the cold air.
- Use Water Block echoes on the left side, connecting the walls. Then use bind to grab the heat orb. Carefully make your way up to avoid the first set of blowing air. Then stay to the left to avoid the second set and place the orb on the pedestal. This will cause the room above to completely thaw out.
- Head through the door on the right side and you'll find two switches. Push the ice block that is in the center of the room to the right and it will slide across the room onto the switch. Step on the closer switch at the same time. This will cause a chest to appear with a Small Key.
- Use the Small Key on the locked door to the left and defeat the Temper Tweelus found here. Open the chest that appears to get the Dungeon Map and then head left a screen.
Use a Platboom Echo to reach the hidden room that has a Golden Egg Use Water Block Echoes to clear the cold air Slide the Ice Block and step on the switch at the same time to get the Small Key Defeat all the Temper Tweelus to get the Dungeon Map
Temple Mini-Boss Slime Eye
- Activate the Waypoint and then head up to take on the dungeon mini-boss, Slime Eye.
- Slime Eye will jump around the room, trying to land on top of Zelda, also causing large rocks to fall from the ceiling which can land on Zelda to deal damage. Just keep moving to avoid these attacks.
- It might not seem apparent at first, but the way to defeat Slime Eye is with ice. Zelda can use a variety of ice echoes, including an Ice Octo Echo or Freezard Echo.
- After hitting the Slime Eye a couple times, it will freeze. While it is frozen, Zelda can use Swordfighter Form, or just allow the existing echoes to keep hitting the frozen boss.
- After hitting Slime Eye enough times when it's frozen, it will break apart into two smaller enemies. The process then continues and Zelda will need to freeze the smaller enemies.
- Keep freezing and then slashing Slime Eye until the enemies are tiny and then defeated all together. Once all are defeated, the door will open and Zelda can climb down the ladder.
Use ice echoes such as Ice Octo Echoes to freeze Slime Eye Use Swordfighter Form while the boss is frozen to defeat it quickly
Underground Torches
- In the underground area, Zelda will find a lit Brazier on the left side. There are numerous torches throughout this room that Zelda will need to light up in order to progress.
- Climb down and melt the ice on the left side. Use an Ignizol Echo to melt the ice and light the torch.
- Make your way to the northeast corner of the room where there is another unlit torch. Use two Strandtula Echoes and then drop multiple Water Block Echoes on the platform here. Swim up and then use a Brazier Echo to light the torch.
- At the southeast part of the room there are some stalactites falling down. The easiest method is to use an Ignizol Echo and hold it. Wait until the stalactites have fallen down and release to cause an Ignizol to spawn at the far right and drop down to light the torch. Alternatively, Zelda can use various echoes to reach the torch, such as a Mothula Echo and then light it directly with an Ignizol.
- At the bottom-left, defeat the Ice Keese that is in the way. Then aim upward with an Ignizol Echo. You need to hold it down for a moment, but not too long. Holding it only for a moment will spawn the Ignizol upward, but not too far up. Grab it with Bind and pull it over to light the torch.
- With all four torches lit, make your way to the left side of the room where the door opened. Break the Brazier on the left here with a bomb or an echo. Then use a series of Strandtula Echoes to reach the top-left of the room, where there is a chest that contains 100 rupees. Then make your way to the southwest corner and head down the ladder.
Use an Ignizol Echo to light the torch Use some Strandtula Echoes and some Water Block Echoes to reach the top-right torch Use an Ignizol, or glide over with a Mothula Echo Grab it with Bind and light the torch Climb up to the top-left using Strandtula Echoes to reach the chest that contains 100 rupees
Big Key
- At the bottom of the room there is a yellow button and if Zelda steps on it, a snowball will roll down a ramp. Since there are icicles sticking up, the ball cannot roll to the large yellow switch. Ignore this for now and head down two screens.
- There are an assortment of enemies in this room. Clear the enemies and open the chest to get three Twisted Pumpkins and then head down a screen.
- Continue to the right a screen and up a screen to find a fire orb. Ignore the orb for now and navigate the room, clearing all of the Ice Octos, Freeze Slugs, Temper Tweelus, and Ice Keese. With the enemies out of the way, return to the orb at the entrance of the room and grab it with Bind. Carry it to the pedestal at the north end of the room and place it. This will cause the previous two rooms to warm up and melt all of the ice in them.
- Back down a screen, Zelda can dive under the water and head to the right side of the room. There are some Tektite Lv. 2s here that can be quite annoying. Zelda can use echoes to defeat them, but can avoid them if she's quick enough. Using a Water Block Echo, Zelda can reach the chest on the right that contains a Monster Stone.
- Backtrack to the left a screen and jump into the water. Use Bind on the boulder and drop it onto the floor switch that is underwater. This will open the door to the left so head on through.
Use a Water Block Echo to reach the chest that has a Monster Stone
- Skip this room for now and head left. Grab the orb that is behind the fence and walk to the left until it turns blue after going through the cold air. Then time a jump so it misses the warm air. Place the blue orb on the pedestal. This will cause the water in the previous room to freeze over.
- Backtrack to the previous room and place an Armos Echo, so it is moving left and right along the top of the room. As soon as the Armos statue hits the switch, step on the other switch with Zelda. If both switches are pushed down at the same time, the door above will open up.
- Clear the Wolfos and White Wolfos in this room using Swordfighter Form or other Echoes and then head up a screen.
- There are three Freezards in this room and it's best to clear them so they don't cause trouble. There are some Ice Blocks in the room that Zelda can push so they land in the water. The goal is to grab the orb that is at the top-left of the room and make your way over to the pedestal at the bottom-right. Use bind to carry the orb and avoid the cold air and the cold water. Jump on top of the ice blocks and place the orb in the pedestal. This will melt the ice in the room just below the big chest.
- Step on the switch at the right side of the room and then head right. Continue down to reach the room that just thawed out. Light the torch with an Ignizol Echo and then grab the orb with Bind. Have the orb pass through the flame so it turns red and then place it on the pedestal. This will cause the icicles in the room to melt.
- Next, grab the blue orb and place it on the pedestal. This will freeze the room, but the icicles are no longer in the way.
- Return up a screen and step on the yellow switch. The snowball will roll down, hitting the yellow switch. Open the chest to get the Big Key.
Use an Armos Echo and step on the two switches at the same time Use echoes to clear the Wolfos and White Wolfos Light the torch using an Ignizol Echo Step on the switch and the boulder will roll down and hit the large yellow switch, allowing Zelda to get the Big Key
Skorchill
- After getting the Big Key, head down the steps that are just to the right. Activate the Waypoint and then head through the locked door to take on the dungeon boss, Skorchill.
- Skorchill will put in a helmet that has blue ice on top of it. He'll walk towards Zelda while occasionally stopping to stomp on the ground, causing icicles to fall from the ceiling. Skorchill will also spin around rapidly trying to run into Zelda.
- Use a fire-based echo, such as a Fire Keese Echo or a Fire Wizzrobe Echo against the boss. The fire echoes can attack the helmet of Skorchill.
- After hitting Skorchill three times, the cold armor that is protecting the boss will go away. At this point Zelda can deal direct damage to the boss, using echoes, or by attacking it directly with Swordfighter Form.
- After taking enough damage, Skorchill will put a helmet back on, this time with flame horns. During this phase, Skorchill will spit fireballs out towards Zelda. The boss will also charge up an attack and shoot a whirlwind of fire towards Zelda.
- This time around use an ice based echo, such as an Ice Keese Echo. Once again his the boss three times to remove its armor and then deal damage directly to the boss.
- Repeat this process until Skorchill enters its final phase. During this phase, Skorchill will alternate between its various heat and cold attacks. Depending on what's on its helmet, use the opposite echo element to deal damage. After its armor is removed, attack Skorchill directly until the boss is defeated.
Skorchill will put on its helmet to begin the battle Or use Swordfighter Form
Post-Lanayru Temple
- After defeating Skorchill, Zelda will collect five more Might Crystals. She will also receive Nayru's Sanction from the Goddess Nayru.
- Grab the Heart Container and warp out of the Lanayru Temple.
- Zelda will unite with Condé again who is happy that the mountain is now clear of the Rift. After Zelda and Tri tell Condé that the monster was not Condé's brother, it will make Condé feel better. Condé will then dance around in celebration before heading back home.
- At this point, if Zelda has already completed the Eldin Temple and Faron Temple, another scene will play where a void appears. This will be covered in the walkthrough's next chapter, the Eternal Forest.
Zelda acquiring Nayru's Sanction Collect the Heart Container and warp out Zelda will appear outside next to Condé
