Nintendo Power: May/June 1990 is the 12th issue of Nintendo Power magazine. Up through the end of 1990, Nintendo Power magazine volumes were released covering two-month periods of time, and they were not generally numbered in or on the magazine until Volume 16 (September/October 1990), although "Strategy Guide" issues before this carried a dual "SGxx/NPxx" numbering.

Player's Pulse (p. 7)

In the Player's Pulse Video Spotlight, Aasif Mirza is featured and he talks the 37-different NES game he owns. He has completed The Legend of Zelda. In the Power Player Profile, Tim Wittgow is featured and he talks about his game accomplishments, including beating The Adventure of Link. He taks about his favorite upcoming games and mentions Zelda 3. Up until this point, Zelda III had only briefly been mentioned in Volume 10 of Nintendo Power.

Nintendo Power Awards '89 (pp. 26-29)

The Nintendo Power Awards '89 winners are published in this volume of Nintendo Power. While content from the Zelda series was nominated in three categories, The Adventure of Link took home one win, taking the price of Best Character for Link, in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. The best overall game of the year went to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Top 30 (pp. 42-44)

In this volumes Top 30, The Adventure of Link drops down to the number 5 spot, while The Legend of Zelda bumps up to number 4, surpassing Adventure of Link. Legend of Zelda comes in with 4,916, while Adventure of Link has 3,928 points. For a second consecutive ranking, The Adventure of Link didn't make the Dealers' Picks list, but remained strong on the Players' and Pros' picks.

NES Journal (p. 85)

In the NES Journal, there is mention of some upcoming Comic Books that are being published based on the Super Mario Bros. and Legend of Zelda franchises. These would eventually be part of the Valiant Comics series. Some of the Comic Books for other series had already released, but the Legend of Zelda was set to release shortly.

Out Of This World Munchies (p. 86)

There are a few advertisements for some snacks based on our favorite NES characters. This includes Nintendo Cereal System, which includes fruit and berry flavored cereals packed in, with nuggets shaped like symbols from Mario and Zelda titles. There is also Real Fruit Snacks, which are chewy, tasty little characters from Super Mario Bros. and the LEgend of Zelda, made with real fruit. There is also an advertisement for Nintendo Ice Cream Sandwiches, which have Link and Mario on the box cover.

Celebrity Profiles (p. 87)

In the Celebrity Profile, actor Willie Aames is featured from th ehit television series, Charles in Charge. He talks about playing the NES with his 5-year old son, and the two play several games, including The Legend of Zelda, Gradius, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nintendo Power Advertisements (p. 96)

An advertisement is shown where readers can order back issues of the first 11 issues of Nintendo Power magazine. The 4th issue is shown, featuring The Adventure of Link on the cover.
