Kish

Kish is a character in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Breath of the Wild

Kish runs the Woodland Stable, found east of Hyrule Castle and southeast of Woodland Tower. He runs both the Stable and the Inn. When talking to Kish from outside, Link can take a horse, board a horse, or register a new horse.[1] From the inside of the stable, Link can talk to Kish to rent out a bed. Kish offers two types of beds, a regular bed for 20 rupees, and a Soft Bed for 40 rupees.[2]

Tears of the Kingdom

Kish continues to the run the Woodland Stable in Tears of the Kingdom. He runs both the Stable and the Inn and is very welcoming to Link.[3][4][5] If it is Link's first time at the stable, he thanks Link for supporting the Stable Association and will reward Link with a Pony Point.[6] If the Woodland Stable is the first stable Link visits, Kish will point Link towards the ledger for prize details for his Pony Points.[7][8]

Kish, along with all the Stable owners, will teach Link about Whistling when he first registers a horse.[9]

A Picture for Woodland Stable

Main article: A Picture for Woodland Stable

After completing one of the Regional Phenomena, as well as acquiring the Camera as part of the Camera Work in the Depths quest, Link can examine the empty picture frame on the wall in the stable. This will cause Kish to call Link over and explain that The Stable Association has decided to display pictures on the walls for the enjoyment of the guests. Kish has hung up the frame, but needs a perfect painting to put inside. He wants to have a painting of the hot springs near Goron City. More specifically, he wants a painting of a Goron soaking himself in a hot spring. In order to paint that picture, he needs to have a picture taken from a Camera.[10] This will begin the A Picture for Woodland Stable quest.

At the Goron Hot Springs, found just of Goron City, Link will find a Goron named Grapp sitting in the hot springs. Link is able to take a picture of the Goron soaking in hot springs with his camera. Link can then return to the stable to show it to Kish. From the inside of the stable, speak to Kish and show him the picture.[11] Kish will then ask Link if he can paint it and he'll whip up a reproduction to put on display within the stable.[12][13] Kish will say that it is perfect for the stable and will reward Link with a Pony Point.[14] Additionally, he'll give Link some Hasty Vegetable Curry.[15] Kish thanks Link again and tells Link, if he ever brings him a different picture of a Goron in a hot spring, he'll whip up another painting.[16] This will complete the A Picture for Woodland Stable quest.

  10. "Ah, Link, has that empty frame caught your eye? The Stable Association has decided we stable owners should display pictures on our walls for the enjoyment of our guests. They've advised us to start by hanging up frames. Yep, you'll find frames like this one here on stable walls all across the land! It's a big picture frame, eh? Now all I need is the perfect painting to put inside it. There are these famous hot springs near Goron City north of here. So maybe a painting of the springs would be nice? But I don't know...a picture of hot water? That wouldn't be very interesting to look at, would it? What I'd really like to do is hang a picture of a Goron soaking in hot springs. Now THAT would be compelling. But when will I have time ot head over there and then paint up a picture? Never! That's when. What I need is a picture of some sort—one that captures the scenery. I could use it for reference and paint up a copy, easy." — Kish, Tears of the Kingdom

Now, just give me a moment to whip up a reproduction. Haha, don't worry! I'm quite good at this, I promise." — Kish, Tears of the Kingdom
  14. "I knew it! It's perfect for this stable! And it's all thanks to you, Link. Now, this is certainly a feast for the eyes. But if you ever want to see a different painting of a Goron soeaking in the hot springs on the wall, just let me know. Just show me the picture you have in mind. I'll paint a copy and put it on display for all to see. To show my appreciation, I'm giving you one Pony Point." — Kish, Tears of the Kingdom
