Gartan is a character in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
Breath of the Wild
Gartan is a traveling merchant who can be seen walking between the Gerudo Canyon Stable, Kara Kara Bazaar, and all the way to the tent just outside Gerudo Town. He can be seen carrying a Traveler's Sword and a Wooden Shield.
He enjoys making small talk with some of the Gerudo in the area, although it is all part of the job. He needs to make friends with people so that they will purchase items from him.[1][2][3][4] However, Gartan does seem to have an attraction to the Gerudo women and wants to try to sneak into Gerudo Town to cozy up with the ladies.[5][6][7][8][9]
Gartan sells very common items including Arrows, Apples, Acorns, and Restless Crickets. Outside of Arrows, Link should avoid purchasing anything from him as all of these materials are more easily found in the wild.
Garton will be a bit on edge at times as he has heard about thieves in Gerudo Town. He of course is referring to the Yiga Clan who have been causing trouble in the region.[10][11]
At anytime while on the road, if Gartan gets ambushed by monsters, he will try to run away. He will thank Link for saving him by giving him a meal.[12]

Tears of the Kingdom
Gartan can be found at the Digdogg Suspension Bridge. He wants to travel to the Gerudo Canyon, but the Gerudo guard Naia, won't let anybody pass, unless they can pass a test.[13] All of the questions are regard hot and cold water, but all Gartan can seem to remember is that if it's warm, he should splash water on his face.[14][15]
After Link passes the test, Gartan will be upset, saying it's not fair that Link passed the test.[16] He accuses Link of gloating.[17]
Each morning at 4am, Gartan wakes up and travels south towards the Gerudo Canyon Pass where he stops where Naia is guarding the path.
