When The Legend of Zelda series began in 1986, the initial games were all either Top-Down or Side-Scrolling adventures. Beginning with Ocarina of Time, the series leaped into the 3rd dimension, and since then, games have been made in both 2D and 3D.
Some Zelda titles are top-down, but have a 3rd dimension, such as games like Phantom Hourglass and Link's Awakening. Additionally, some spin-off games such as Hyrule Warriors and Age of Calamity have released that are fully realized 3D games. However, in the Zelda Community when using the term 3D Zelda Games, it is often referencing the major home console 3D Zelda titles, listed below.
