Mario fans like me are surely excited at the glimpses we have gotten of Super Nintendo World, a new section of Universal Studios Japan that will be open to the public on February 4, 2021. It seems a truly marvelous experience to step into the world of a franchise that has been brought to life and, although I love the Mario Bros. franchise, I can’t help but wonder as a Zelda fan what the Zelda version of that experience may be like.

In a recent Super Nintendo World direct, Shigeru Miyamoto showed off specific parts of Super Nintendo World, such as the interactive features, Toad’s Cafe, and Bowser’s Castle. When considering the potential for a gathering of Zelda-themed attractions, I for one would love to see Hyrule Castle towering over me and walk inside it to hear the iconic music that would cement the experience. I can only imagine the delicious dishes from Breath of the Wild that could be served in a restaurant, as well as a ride perhaps based on the mine cart section of Skyward Sword. Maybe there could be interactive features as well, where guests collect rupees by kicking or punching treasure chests, much like coins are collected by punching blocks in Super Nintendo World.

Although there is no evidence of Zelda representation at Universal Studios Japan, Zelda fans can only hope that there may be some at Universal Studios Orlando or Universal Studios Hollywood. Perhaps those renditions will each be a different flagship Nintendo fandom brought to life.
