During Bethesda’s E3 conference earlier this year, we learned that special Zelda gear would be included in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Nintendo Switch. That announcement revealed that players would be able to use compatible Zelda amiibo to unlock the Master Sword, Hylian Shield, Champion’s Tunic, and additional loot in the upcoming port.

But today’s Nintendo Direct revealed a bit more about this content’s availability in Skyrim. While Zelda amiibo can be used to unlock these special items immediately in-game, the latest trailer for the Switch version of Skyrim implied that players can also find them hidden among the game world without the need for amiibo.

The trailer explains the functionality of amiibo:

“The Champion’s Tunic, the Hylian Shield, and the Master Sword can be acquired by tapping a compatible Legend of Zelda character amiibo figure, or, you can always seek out these treasures as you explore the vast world.”

Surely it will be more difficult to get your hands on these legendary items without amiibo, but it seems you can still find them somewhere without the figures.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skrim will release on Nintendo Switch on November 17.
