Old_Koume's_Boat_CruiseHello unwinding readers, it’s been a while since we last visited some of our favorite areas. We haven’t even made it to part ten, yet we have covered a handful of some of the more notable unwinding areas compared to most all potential areas throughout the series. However, this time around, I’ll be discussing several mini games that are considerably unwinding. The less stressful ones anyway. Although we have mentioned a few mini games in previous parts, this part solely features mini games, including: the Goron Race, Koume’s Boat Race, The Wind Fall Auction, and Mail Sorting. Wind Fall Auction (The Wind Waker)

maxresdefault Alright so perhaps to some, this might not be considered a mini game, though it technically is. It is however one of my favorite things to do amongst unwinding in The Wind Waker. First of all, as you may know, the auction only occurs a night when Wind Fall appears to finally be at rest from it’s bustling music and residents. However, this allows the auction house to be a little more than your typical mini game spent alone. Being able to interact and bid against residents you saw earlier, adds to their character in a sense. I’m sure the first time you played this mini game, you probably weren’t expecting  to bid against these cheery NPCs. What’s more is that the only requirements you need, are a couple hundred rupees and the simple skill of button mashing. Another neat part of the auction are it’s prizes, which you could instantly win with 999 rupees. Or if you had lost to a higher bidder, they would happen to have returned it due to being dissatisfied with it. Which is ironic, since you have endless opportunities to win each prize at some point. It is from these reasons I consider this mini game segment unwinding and a win win situation if you have enough rupees.

Goron Race  (Majora’s Mask)

1000px-Goron_Race(Majora’s Mask)The Goron Race has to be one of the more exciting mini games in Majora’s Mask. Sure there’s the pretty fun Gorman Track and Beaver Falls race, but how often do you get to race Gorons? Although the Goron Race can be rather difficult, it has plenty to offer including ramps to glide off of and various obstacles to avoid. Colliding with other Gorons isn’t the only obstacle, avoiding trees, and patches of mud can be difficult, all while keeping the magic meter green. What’s more are the sounds of other Gorons competitively racing against you, they want to win! And they don’t play either considering how often they’ll ambush you despite you having harmful spikes all over you back. Though this is a competitive race, I can’t tell you how many times I came back for another race just unwind.

Koume’s Boat Cruise (Majora’s Mask)

Old_Koume's_Boat_CruiseBy far one of my favorite mini games in the series is Koume’s Boat Cruise. Particularly  due to the various visual aspects offered in the swamp region of Majora’s Mask. Passing through a convincing swamp, with lily pads and other vegetation in addition to the various glows of opalescent color schemes, contribute to making this area rather mesmerizing. On top of that, the swamp area makes for an amazing background to go along with this mini game. With an infinite amount of arrows and only ten chances to shoot Koume, it’s already a fair game! Just kidding. Though if you really do enjoy the shooting games in the series, this one is a must.

Mail Sorting (The Wind Waker)

Mail_SortingI’m not sure just how popular this mini game actually is, but I found it to be a must for every Dragon Roost visit. For a simple pattern/matching game, it can be quite addictive. There’s really not much to it. But then again, who doesn’t like flinging letters in mailboxes. However another reason why I chose this mini game is because it’s calm environment. As simple and brief as the mail sorting may be, it’s something the Rito seem to be proud of. And despite there not being another mail mini game alternative to this rather simple one, it’s still enjoyable. Going off on another note, I think there very could have been another mini game that could you to deliver mail in other ways , perhaps with the grappling hook or flying with a Rito. Anyways, if you happen to own a Wii U and have played the more interactive version with GamePad, let me know if you like that version better.

Like most mini games, there’s bound to be some pressure to hurry along. Though that doesn’t mean you can’t unwind and enjoy it! What did you think of these mini games? Did you enjoy any of these mini games? If not, let me know in the comments below, also be sure to suggest your favorite mini games. There just might be another mini game edition!
