Screen Shot 2015-06-16 at 2.56.07 PMDuring E3 we heard from Tri Force Heroes Director Hiromasa Shikata, where during an interview with Game Informer he shared that due to the Zelda timeline being “complicated” and there being three branches within that timeline, he couldn’t share the specifics of where this new title would fall. Although he also shared that the “fashion obsessed” kingdom is not Hyrule, he didn’t give us the impression that it fell outside of the Zelda timeline. He simply stated:

“With the history of Zelda we have these three parallel worlds. I can’t say which one it’s on/in at this point.”

However in an interview with Nintendo Enthusiast, Nintendo’s Julie Gagnon gave a more definitive answer and quite the opposite impression.

Head past the jump to see what she said.

This is what Julie Gagnon had to say about Tri Force Heroes during an interview with Elia Pales of Nintendo Enthusiast:

“It really depends on what the developer has in mind for the franchises. Sometimes you have Zelda sequels and what we have today with Zelda: Triforce Heroes is completely different and not in the timeline of Zelda. “

Although in Shikata’s interview he didn’t really say yes or no in terms of the new title falling within the timeline, he definitely gave the impression that it did, just not in the land of Hyrule itself. I could have misunderstood his meaning but that was the impression I got from his interview, but this definitely leaves a much different impression upon me.

What are your thoughts? What do you think Shikata meant when he discussed the Zelda timeline? Where do you think the story will fall?
