New Beautiful Dark Majora’s Mask Replica
Posted on March 18 2014 by Fernando Trejos
Tobias Lungaard Larsen, dedicated artist in the video game community, has recently finished this beautiful variation of the Majora’s Mask; honestly, it looks incredible.
Tobias (otherwise known as TLL) first made a
regular Majora’s Mask replica about a year ago; it took about 8 months to make, and with it he made his big break for fame. Needless to say, this man is incredibly talented, and every one of his creations—among others, a Batarang from Batman and a Grenade Launcher from Team Fortress 2, both here on his blog—are simply amazing.
Tobias did say that the reason the mask took so long to make (other than the incredible attention to detail, ridiculous scope and quality, and general awesomeness) was a lack of funds for castings and other materials. Luckily, the mask is available now, and the artist can make them at a reasonable rate, although both models, this one and the original, cost about $300. An unpainted, white, empty cast is also available for the much-cheaper-yet-still-really-high price of $110. Inarguably, this is a little steep, but the masks are of amazing quality and would definitely be worth a buy for those who can afford them.
The mask itself weighs around 750 grams and measures about 40×49 centimeters (horns included). There are wearable and non-wearable versions available to the public, though for such a large artistic effort, they do take quite a while to craft.
Personally, I’m very excited—not because the masks look amazing (they do, but I could never afford them) but because Tobias has mentioned working on a new project: the terrifyingly beautiful mirror shield from
Majora’s Mask. Nothing is being guaranteed, but he has made the blueprints and written about it in his “Upcoming Projects” page.
What do you think of the masks? Will you be purchasing one, or an empty slate on which to paint?
