Much to everyone’s surprise (sarcasm), Nintendo Treehouse confirmed today that there is no voice chat available in The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes during the second livestream of gameplay. This means that in order to engage in cooperative play effectively, players must be in the same room or general area to be able to communicate verbally. In a game in the series that boasts cooperative online play, the lack of voice chat seems to be a major setback as it not only defeats the purpose of having online play, it downright creates frustration for the players.
