Tons of New Animal Crossing Details are Jumping Out
Posted on September 20 2012 by Joe Love
I don’t consider myself to be a hardcore gamer. I only have ever owned Nintendo consoles, and I usually only play video games from time to time, or when a new game comes out. One of the exceptions to this rule is Animal Crossing, which I have played and loved since the first iteration on the Gamecube. I lost my copy of Wild World a while ago, so I have been going without for a couple years now, but I’m anxiously counting down the days until Animal Crossing: Jump Out‘s 2013 U.S. release.
With the game’s release still kind of far away, there hasn’t been a ton of details revealed about the more intricate aspects of the game. A NeoGAF member recently dug through a bunch of Japanese scans for Jump Out and posted all of the details he could for us to enjoy.
New Features as Mayor

– Seen planting the tree seen on the box art. This is your first act as Mayor. It will grow as your city does.
– Can build camping grounds, bridges, wells, jungle gyms, benches, and those face-hole photograph things.
– Receive donations from villagers and even other players to fund the building.

I know that Animal Crossing is not a game for everyone (much like any video game is not for everyone), but the opportunity to build up this town and meet people and visit your friends’ towns just appeals to me. The fact that the whole game is played in real time, and that it reflects this in every aspect, is also something I find incredible. I know that most people reading this are probably Nintendo fans, so you’ve likely had some experience with Animal Crossing by now. If so, do you like it? Hate it? What are your favorite and least favorite aspects of it? I really love trying to collect all the fish, bugs, and paintings I can, and working my way to paying off my house is an accomplishment worth celebrating in my book. I rarely partake in the clothing store though, and collecting furniture is something I’ve never gotten into (I’m not sure if it’s because of how difficult it is and I’m lazy or it just isn’t my thing).
I think that with Jump Out they’re changing up the formula by making you the mayor, which is something that this series really needs, and hopefully this will be the title to reinvigorate Animal Crossing to the same level of excitement I once felt for playing it every day. What do you guys think?
