Iconic main themes are some of the most memorable pieces of music that our ears are ever graced with hearing. Largely, this is because they’re, well, iconic. The Legend of Zelda is no exception to this fact. While each game in the series may have its own individual title track, when it comes to the franchise, there’s only one main theme. Admittedly, the number of covers and takes on the main theme is nigh uncountable, but so many of them really do stand out.

Recently, CelloCat (AKA Kaitlin Findlay) uploaded her version of The Legend of Zelda‘s main overworld theme to her YouTube channel. This cello-focused cover stands as a straightforward remake of the song featuring backing instrumentation and some incredible scenery. A lot of covers seem to lose the featured instrument when they have backing instrumentation; however, the cello is without a doubt a star throughout the whole song.

Sometimes a classic song hits just right, and this is the case here. I love a lot of the music in the Zelda franchise, but hearing the main theme just puts me in the mood for an adventure. In the same way the main theme from the Lord of the Rings movies makes me want to travel across Middle-Earth, this song teleports me to the grassy hills of Hyrule. The location of the video is spot on as well, reminiscent of Breath of the Wild with the mountains in the background.

What did you think of this cover? Did it whisk you away to Hyrule as well? Let us know in the comments below or chat about it over in our Discord!
