Theory: The Dark Origins of the Sheikah Tribe Monks from Breath of the Wild
Posted on October 28 2019 by Kristen G. Rosario
The Sheikah tribe are as innovative as they are mysterious. Advanced in their technological ways, yet most secretive in everything else, the Sheikah has a past that hasn’t fully been explored in the Zelda series. Take the monks that are all secluded in each of the Shrines in Breath of the Wild for instance. Regardless of their appearances, they seem to be alive just long enough to give congratulations to you on your successful trial. Even the monk from The Champions’ Ballad DLC gets up and takes you on in a really fun boss fight.
Theorist MaskedNintendoBandit believes the past of the Sheikah is just as dark as it is mysterious. In a recent video, MNB dives into that history we do know, as well as what we don’t. This analysis includes what/who they worshiped, the Sheikah’s interrogation methods, the dark origins of how their technological advancements started, and more. Suffice to say that the Sheikah didn’t have their hands clean in Hyrule’s history, according to the theorist.
