The Wind Waker is Koji Kondo’s Favorite Musical Score He Personally Didn’t Direct

To say the music in The Wind Waker is magical always feels like an understatement. What some may not know is that Koji Kondo himself wasn’t the Sound Director. What I personally didn’t know is that the music The Wind Waker is actually his personal favorite overall batch of video game music for a game he didn’t direct. That’s a huge compliment to the sound director for The Wind Waker, of whom I have been unable to pinpoint. The first name listed on most sources for the sound team is Kenta Nagata, but 3 other composers took part. Those composers included Koji Kondo, but also Hajime Wakai and Toru Minegishi. I think it’s safe to assume Kenta Kagata was the overall director for the team. Either way, Koji Kondo only played a small role in the game’s music. Here is what he had to say:
“IGN: Next is Zelda: The Wind Waker.
Kondo: I wasn’t the sound director on Wind Waker, that was done by some other staff members. But I can say that out of all the games that I was not the sound director on, Wind Waker is my favorite”
Honestly, I think the whole sound team deserves credit.
