The Wind Waker in HD

The Wind Waker in High DefinitionOver the last couple days, Stallion Free over at the NeoGAF forums has been posting screenshots of his playthrough of The Wind Waker. So you may ask, what’s so special about ordinary screenshots? Well, these aren’t ordinary screenshots! Stallion Free is playing The Wind Waker on a Nintendo Wii emulator and is up-scaling the game to high definition! The screenshots look absolutely gorgeous and you really have to see them for yourself to admire the quality.

There is a small thumbnail image to the right of one of the screenshots, but if you click read more, you can see several amazing, high quality screenshots. Even those were too large to fit on the site, so you can click those images to get the full sized HD images. You can also take a look at our image gallery where you can find Stallion Free’s entire gallery of Wind Waker screenshots.

Check out Stallion Free’s full collection of high definition Wind Waker screenshots over at our image gallery. You can take a look at the original NeoGAF thread to find more screenshots from other users playing through the Wind Waker, as well as a bunch of other Nintendo gamecube and Wii games in high definition.

The quality of these screenshots really make me think it is time for Nintendo to take that next step forward with their console and go the route of high definition. It has been long rumored, although Nintendo has hinted that perhaps they’ll “skip over” high definition all together and go straight to what the ‘next’ technology is after high definition. Not sure if they mean 3d type gaming, or perhaps some sort of technology that we don’t even know of. At this point, your guess is as good as mine. Perhaps E3 2010 will shed some light on the future of Nintendo and it’s course of action in regards to upping the hardware.

Until then, let us know what you think of these screens? If there was a HD Nintendo console and The Wind Waker, Ocarina of Time, or Twilight Princess were remade with this type of quality of graphics, would you purchase them? Is gameplay still more important than graphics? Let us know in the comments below.
